Chet-Chet --15 months

Chet 15 months
Weight: 24 lbs (under 50th percentile)
Height: 31 inches (75th percentile)
Head: (90th percentile- typical!  LOL)

Eating:
You really throw me for a loop with your eating!  Things that you like one day you are completely uninterested in the next!  In fact, 2 days this week you ate nothing but goldfish crackers and graham crackers and drank milk- throwing me for quite a loop!  (but found out later you had 2 molars coming in, thus the lack in appetite!)  The next day (once the teeth were in), you devoured quite a bit….  Some days you love one food and the next day you won’t eat it and throw it all on the floor to Sadie!

You do much better eating when I sit down with you and feed you your meal and your sister is sitting there eating too.  You like to have the same thing as sissy most days.  If you are eating something different you voice your displeasure at me.

You love your milk and transferred from the breast to the sippy with little fuss.  You drink about 30 oz of milk a day.   When you want a milk and can’t find one, you go to the fridge door and yell or bang on the door! J

Sleeping:   You are still taking 2 naps most days… one or two days a week I will try and take you to one nap, but you still LOVE your morning nap.  It is your best and soundest sleep, and really always has been.  You usually nap about 2 hours after waking up for the day for about 1 ½ hours to 2 hours and then again in the afternoon for an hour.  I’d actually love if you’d drop it down to one nap, but you aren’t ready… It seems like someone is always sleeping around here, you and your sister just trade off!  It is hard to get out of the house with someone always napping!

You have started sleeping through the night!  FINALLY!  Yippee!!   Mommy doesn’t know what to do with herself! J  And, you are the easiest little one to put to bed, I give you your paci and your blankie, turn on your fan, whisper “good night” to you, and leave.  And you go to sleep with little to no fuss most nights.  You weren’t ready for this bed time routine until about 14 months.  Until then I wore you to bed in the Mei Tai.  Every. Single. Night.  But that’s what you needed… it was wearing me out mentally, but I knew you still needed me in that way and that it was a temporary phase.  What a joy it has been to peacefully transfer you into an independent bedtime routine!

Personality Description:  You are becoming such a “big boy”.  In every way, I’m amazed watching you transfer from infancy to toddlerhood with such confidence…. Since you have had a big sister to watch for the past year, you seem to know what you want to do and go for it!  You are not easily daunted, you are not shy, you are not afraid of new situations- you face things head on.  You love a good thrill- things that would easily startle other babies and make them cry, startle you and then you LAUGH.  Giggle and shriek- you are my little thrill seeker!

Your energy level is daunting, to say the least!  You are so physical and energetic, my little boy!  While your sister “cooks” and plays “rest” you run around in circles, chasing the dog and screaming.

You are a comedian!  You LOVE positive attention and you love making people laugh, you are not the least bit shy, doesn’t matter the audience, you love to be in the spot light.

It’s funny but you remind me SO much of your daddy, it must be that your personalities and dispositions are genetic!  You both are so similar, so energetic, so funny and the life of the party and sweet and easy to be around.

Language and Words:
Word list:
“Dada”
“Mama”
“Shoes”
“Sadie”
“Ball” (Da!)
“Evie” (Eee-eee)
“uh oh”

The Funny Things You Do/Other Developments/”You”:
Have I mentioned you’re a ham?  You are the hardest little toddler to discipline, because you do not respond to change in tone or inflection of voice.  You just look at me, smile, and continue on your way!  You love to play “chase” and you turn everything into a game!  You also love to drop EVERYTHING into the trash can, I don’t know how many things we must’ve thrown away that we didn’t mean to because you love to sneak stuff into the trash!  You constantly throw your binky and milk cup in there and then come and get me saying “uh oh”. Everything is “uh oh” – you clearly don’t grasp the concept J  You throw all your food off the high chair “uh oh”, you throw your ball into the trash can “uh oh”, you drop your blankie off the back of the couch “uh oh”, you change the channel on the TV “uh oh”.

Daddy is enjoying you soooooooo very much!  He loves to play rough with you, things that he’d never get to do with Evie or Mommy- and you LOVE it too!  His favorite thing is to put you on the exercise ball and roll you around while holding your ankles.   I have to look the other way, it gives me a heart attack, but you too certainly enjoy one another!

Mommy sure loves having a little boy J  It’s funny how the mother-son relationship is, it’s indescribable really…. Having my own little boy to raise into a man is quite the challenge and I’m so glad that God blessed me with you, Chet Odgers. I love that I have got to be with you every second of your infancy.  I was so blessed to not have to return to work after your birth and the weight that relieved me and the blessing it was to be with you every single waking second was unparalleled.  You are mine and Evie’s little buddy, we have such a great time with you!

Evie is such a good big sister to you and really does love you wholeheartedly, you are so very blessed to have such a doting sissy.  She loves to make you laugh, and you LOVE to laugh at her!  (You also love to get a reaction out of her, any reaction makes you laugh- so your favorite thing right now is to pull her hair and make her scream at you! Yikes!).  You ask her for help quite often when there is something you can’t reach, and she is happy to oblige you.  She also likes to get your milk cup for your and to help you with your snacks.  You two light up my life and seeing your relationship blossom into it’s own sibling bond is one of the greatest blessings I’ve ever experienced.

Wow, that’s all for now!  15 months updated when you were actually still 15 months!  Unheard of for the 2nd child, hee hee!  We love you so much, Bubba.  We are so grateful to be your parents and to have the honor of raising you and knowing you.

Forever loving you,
Mommy
